To start with, still Colorless! :P They are my very best friends, equally best and I can't live without them. This is TIMELESS TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean those... still physically belong to C'less.

Happy New Year

The very first post here in 2006. Happy New Year!

Got many to share but just a bit run out of time :P (sb. keep saying: excuse... excuse... Well... perhaps!)

Already made up my 'Top List of 2005' and my 'Wish List for 2006'; will post here SOON.. um.. really soon!

Being busy reading Annie Proulx! Excellent! Finished Brokeback Mountain already and now the other fascinating stories. Oooh yup... Just written an article on 'Fascinated / Addicted' in my 'Candy-Art' Blog (well.. in Chinese) You must know me friends, I'm really addicted to Writing. Indeed kind of treatment to myself! :P

The very first story I finished in 2006 was Brokeback Mountain. Damn it that I couldn't help reading once started and finished at almost 2 in the morning while I still needed to work the next day. Most importantly I kept crying and couldn't stop by myself. Finally I got the story finishd and threw the book away from me, I mean FAR away on my working desk and went back to bed. Listening to the radio and soon felt asleep while, I believe, still sobbing.

The very first article I planned to write in 2006 was 'My Top 10 Worldwide News in 2005'. Already started drafting that day while watching TV with Steve. Also asked him for his choices and mama's. Soon (again, soon!) will post at here after finishing up.

While studying with Steve, learnt soooooooooooooooo many funny and interesting vocabularies. Never thought of it! And some  was just dumpped aside in one of the corners of my brain for sooooo a long time! A very enjoyable experience, to study those '1-star' vocabularies with my lovely brother! You know what '1-star'? Do you have the Collins Cobuild? Go back and check it!

Give you an example. OK. I admit it. Personally I have never seen that word before and really could not guess its meaning by its spelling.

Seance, should be of 'séance', noun, Etymology: French, from seoir to sit, from Latin sedEre, meaning 1: Session, Sitting; meaning 2: a spiritualist meeting to receive spirit communications

The meaning Steve should learnt was meaning 2!!!!!!!!!!!! The teacher's (or the book author's) explanation is something like 'a meeting to communicate with dead people'. So the first thing I thought of was 'ask rice' in Chinese! HaHa~ agreed?

Plenty of these words, interesting and worth-learning I believe. So I should have a self-dictation on it! ^_^

Ooooooh... Yes! Another very important thing was that I did some piano and Japanese during the New Year holiday! The very first piece I played in 2006 was Debussy's Arabesque II and Yes! I did Beethoven!!!!!! Sonata No. 10 in G major Opus 14 no 2; the WHOLE three movements!!!! You know, I didn't played Sonata for months! And the first Sonata in months was Beethoven! I did a GREAT job, I supposed. At least a very great job as a 'retired pianist'. Haha! Alright, enough for praising my own self. :P

That's my life recently, this week to be exact. And one last bit, my warmest and greatest blessings to all my beloved friends!

14 December 2005 WTO Vs. Protesters

rite now hk is hosting the WTO MC6... many protesters from all over the world (well... mainly asia.. should be) come here and hold many INTERESTING anti-WTO campaigns.

like yesterday, quite a number of korean jumped into the sea!!!! in fact i think they're really brave! and after hearing that they insist not to leave as they believe some of their mates had been arrested by the HK police (tho' finally known that they're saved by the police from the sea and sent to hospital ), i quite admire them; that's what chinese or asian said 'yi chi' -- i hv to protect & fight for my frds til the end!

and it's also 'fresh' and 'creative' to me (and i believe to most of us) seeing those south-asian fishermen sailing instead of 'public procession on the street'!

now we got a TV CM in HK... telling us that one of the advantages of holding the WTO MC6 is to gain an experience! Yes!!! i can't agree anymore! that's a very treasurable and valuable experience to ppl here... we had never experienced such a style of 'public procession', newspaper said it is 'funfair style'; we had never experienced this style of 'formal / foreign' demonstration or protestation, those police fended off the protesters are already our Riot Police, but.. are they strong enough? i'm not talking about these kinda 'little scuffle' but those more serious like what we watched on TV.

last nite, when chatting with my family, steve pointed out that the korean are sooooo great that they're sooooooooooooo systematic!! they're all well-prepared, with gloves, caps and uniforms! with those drum sound, they managed to do the same gesture at the same bit! i doubted if they had practiced! that's one of the things we had to learn from them.

and we chatted about globalization and WTO. free trades? probably yes but not THAT yes.. fair trades? frankly, ask urself, is it possible? personally, sorry... my answer is definitely NO. c'mon buddies.... we all should understand there is nothing called TOTAL FAIRNESS in the world. who got the power who got the way.. see Bush! but what could we do? some may try to work against it and to strike for a better deal... does it work? i dunno but i admire their braveness. as we all know it's kinda useless. if they really succeed... they would be the HERO / HEROIN of their counterparts in their country and some even for the WHOLE country. so what we concluded is: the world is cruel.

it's not only cruel to those 3rd world but also those developed countries like s.korea and japan. why? 'coz we're not inside the EU or we're not the US. who to blame? who knows!

abt those 3rd world... dunno if i'm also a cruel person (i mean when facing them).. i would not hesitate to donate $ to them for their medical use, education or any other daily facilities construction. but i dun think we could hv a better deal for them. it's natural for the wealthier to get resources from the poorer. but in returns the poorer could learn from it such as different kinda skills!!!! in the long run, it should be a better future. but of 'coz... this is far too ideal..... greediness ruins the deal!

no decision from my 'family discussion' juz 'yup... it's poor' 'wht a pity' but nothing could do. as steve's doing a presentation on globalization two weeks b4, i asked what he thought abt it. i remembered he said in the present. that Globalization has been a blossom or gift from above but now.. in the 21st Century it became a  poison. (sorry.. i couldn't remember what exactly the word he used.. just similar meaning) he used an example.. What a Nightmare if you could only have Big-macs every day! yup... that's really a nightmare... but wht's ahead: no choice but cont'd globalization. so the question steve pointed out last nite is: How to hv Globalization? Globalization shouldn't be done that way. but of 'coz those WTO officials should know this simple question.. what left behind is: selfishness and greediness... don't u agree?

wow... it's really an interesting topic to talk abt. so... let's cont'd next time.. now gotta go for good... :P

30 Nov 2005

Woke up early in the morning for the meeting with our clients, well, not really early but normal 'wake up time'. Have a 'so-so' breakfast, I should know it 'in advance' as the Kaohsiung one is also not that good. As the site is really difficult to reach for people first coming there, I called the taxi driver yesterday drove me there to pick me up at the hotel. Arrived at site at around 9 and continued to talk about the issue with the newly attached engineer. He's nice and appeared to be helpful.

After a few chats, came the other client, two Malays, to be exact, Chinese from Malaysia. I met one of them before in HK but it seemed that he didn't recognise me. They're nice and helpful; and.... a bit funny, with their Malay accent, both in Mandarin and English. (also Cantonese in fact) People from Malaysia and Singapore are really 'multi-lingual'.

Had lunch at site. First time to join a 'site canteen lunch'. I'm indeed impressed by the way they handle the 'waste' or 'disposal' after meals. They use paper dishes and biodegradable plastic spoon. After finishing your meal, each single individual will handle their own 'waste'. We needed to come out of the canteen and to an 'outside rubbish disposal area'. We needed to put all the 'remaining food' to a separate bucket before disposing the dishes. Also, we needed to divide the rubbish type. The dishes and chopsticks (recycled) a bucket and the plastic another. The other two clients from the South seemed to be very familiar with this and I guess this is a common practice here. And you know, it is the SITE, but the foremen or construction workers just do the same!!!! I think Hong Kong people should really learn this!

The other two clients left after lunch. Surprisingly they drove their own way up here and they set off at 5:45 this morning!!!!! Soooooooooooooo early!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After lunch, a few more chats with the engineers and went out to post the letter. During the drive, a girl engineer told me some conditions or situations in Taiwan engineering field. Also surprised to know that the they have some civil and 'dam works' background engineers doing the QC stuff. Well but anyways just like what they said, the QC documentation is more or less the same.

Once back from post office, the Japanese client arrived. (Errrr....... they're not coming at 4? Then was only 2?) Talked in really slow English and I felt a bit uncomfortable 'coz too ugly English (:P) haha~ Nice meeting with the Japanese client and also their Taiwanese counterparts.

Meeting ended earlier than expected, so I got to handle my own dinner. Today went to Mitsukoshi instead. However, disappointedly no restaurants there since a hotel rite above it and all the restaurants (excl. food court) belong to the hotel. And the food court, just like no one's eating, the shops're closing, well, I'm not sure if really closing but very dim.

So finally back to hotel and have dinner in the cafe I had breakfast this morning. Semi-buffet with main course fixed. I took the lamb, still okay and quite big in portion. Much better than the breakfast. And found out that if paid later when check-out, will have 10% off. Strange, maybe like a benefit for customer. But I found out that 'room-service' is cheaper, another strange thing.

And really finally I got the transformer and converter borrowed, so I could online now ('coz notebook low batter last nite) and re-charge my mobile.

Time to sleep now, gotta go. Bye!
